Welcome to the 2019 Katy ISD Summer Reading Challenge!

We are glad you are interested! It is our goal to have every secondary student in Katy ISD reading during the summer months. We simply want you to choose books you want to read! Good Luck and Happy Reading!!

To visit the Katy ISD Summer Reading Challenge website, CLICK HERE or see below for more information.

How does the challenge work?

  •  Read books that interest you! You will get a text message on Tuesdays with some suggestions; you don't have to read those- they are just an option. You can also click on the Reading Lists for more suggestions. Regardless of how you find the titles, read for authentic purposes.
  • Challenge yourself to read at least five books this summer to reach that HIGH 5!
  • Share what you read with others-- talk about your books, tweet about your books with #KatyISDReads, Instagram your books with #KatyISDReads, and log what you read on our form (see below).
  • Keep track of what you read. You will get a text message on Sundays as a reminder to log any book you've finished. Click here to log your finished books.
  • To sign up for Book suggestions (Tuesday text messages through Remind):

To sign up for Remind* text messages:
Junior High Students (for the 2019-2020 school year): Text @f4835 to 81010
High School Students (for the 2019-2020 school year): Text @2986a to 81010

*Remind is a platform that allows educators to send one-way text messages to students and/or parents with no exchange of personal cellphone information. Click here to learn more about what makes Remind safe for kids and educators. Any applicable text message fees charged by the device's mobile carrier will apply.

We would love to hear about what you're reading! Tweet using the hashtag:
